Tommy's Hunt

On January 18, 2003 I went on a guided hog hunt with J.R. and Robert two of Willy's guides from Affordable Hog Hunts in Savoy, Texas.  I met his guides at the usual location and we were on our way to one of the ranches where they hunt at.  On the way there J.R. was telling me about a big boar they had seen on one at their previous hunts.  That's when I was getting excited about the hunt but I didn't get my hopes up.  Hunting is like fishing you never know what your going to catch.  We showed up at the hunting location a little after 8:00 a.m.  When the tailgate dropped the dogs were off and running. After about an hour and a half or two hours later, Coon one of Willy's hog crazy dogs bayed a hog and then all the other dogs went in to do their job. That's when my adrenaline started pumping.  When we got to the briar thicket where the hog dogs were I didn't see the huge 370 pound boar until we got through the briars and J.R. unleashed the catch dog, the fight was on. Then it was my turn too have a little fun!  After a couple of stabs behind the shoulder with my 7 inch cold steel knife that's when the big boar went into a deep sleep.  This was my second hunt with Affordable Hog Hunts and I highly recommend Willy, his guides, and his dogs to anybody that loves the thrill of an awesome hunt.
