Chesneys' Hunts

"Tjay and Clint Chesney are my grandsons and, yes, they did kill a wild boar with a knife.  Some folks say hunting is bad because the animal doesn't have a chance against a bow or a gun.  How about with a knife?  You all know I have hunted all my life but I ain't experienced anything like this yet.  I went along as a  spectator but at my age it was hard to keep up at the end.  The walk along creek bottoms was fine for a few miles, but when the dogs bayed the hog things quickened up.  Like running to the dogs before the hog kills them and in the process crossing a creek or two that may be two or three feet deep in water in February is tough on an old grandpa.  The creeks are way too wide to jump.  I missed the first kill by Clint but luckily Tjay's hog  was on my side of the creek when the dogs caught up.  When Tjay was on  the 230lb. boar the dogs kept his attention toward them.  Willie, the guide, is one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet but the only way the Texans could have had a chance to win at the Alamo was to have Willie, his knife and his dogs on their side.  Willie with broad smile and big black cowboy hat would have enjoyed this challenge.  If given the choice that I had to wrestle Willie or a big boar hog I'd take the hog."
